Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC is actively seeking an Instrument & Electrical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team at our state-of-the-art facility in Sweeny, Texas.

As an Instrument & Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive design support for our facility's systems within the petrochemical industry. Working alongside our talented design engineering team, you will be instrumental in both the basic and detailed installation of critical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Process & Instrumentation flow diagrams (Mechanical Flow Sheets).

  • Create Instrument loop diagrams and detailed instrumentation installation drawings.

  • Draft Instrumentation and process control specifications.

  • Conduct Safety Instrumented Systems analysis and design.

  • Design Single line diagrams and power distribution details.

  • Develop Control wiring diagrams and interlock/shutdown system designs.

  • Specify equipment such as HV intake substations, HV/LV switchgear, MCC's, transformers, etc.

  • Perform grounding system sizing, calculations, and equipment specifications.

  • Design interfaces for vendor equipment skids/packages.

  • Conduct load flow, short-circuit calculations, and equipment protection sizing.

  • Review drawings created by electrical and instrumentation designer technicians.

  • Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, reliability, and project engineering teams on project development and maintenance-related tasks.

  • Oversee and coordinate instrumentation and electrical systems related projects.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of in-plant project management experience OR bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with at least 3 years of experience working in a petrochemical or design environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in instrument and electrical design.

  • Familiarity with instrument and electrical specifications and NFPA codes and standards.

  • Knowledge of conventional instrumentation and controls.

  • Understanding of Power Systems.
