Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking an Electrician to join our team at the Sweeny, Clemens & Old Ocean Facilities located in Sweeny, Texas. This position will provide technical level installation, maintenance, and service of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with all health, safety and environmental practices and policies employed at the plant.

  • Repairs, replaces and maintains electrical equipment to meet or exceed mechanical integrity standards.

  • Good understanding of the NFPA70 and 70E

  • Maintains, removes and installs all electrical related process equipment up to 138kv, including UPS systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), variable frequency drives (VFD's), and all types of electrical switchgear.

  • Troubleshoots electrical process equipment.

  • Responsible for reducing cost of repairing equipment while maintaining or increasing the quality of repairs.

  • Actively seeks out personal training needs.

  • Troubleshoots motor control and shutdown systems that employ (PLC's).

  • Works close with plant operations evaluating work request for both routine and shutdown electrical work.

  • Ability to learn SAP (Computer Maintenance Management System) to find and order equipment and parts.

  • Enters time and equipment history into SAP and Meridium.

  • Help manage and coordinate the electrical power portion of expense and capital projects in assigned area and throughout the facility.

  • Work with contract electricians on electrical maintenance tasks and give direction and technical assistance as required.

  • Responsible for the documentation of electrical projects, including drawings and data entry into the equipment database.

Physical requirements for this position include: climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, pushing, pulling and performing a wide range of physical activities while working at various heights.

Candidate will be required to work overtime and respond to call outs within one hour of being called. There is occasional work at night or on the weekend.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a 2-year Associates Degree/Certificate in an electrical field; a 4-year Certified Electrical Apprenticeship Certificate or an equivalent documented training history

  • Minimum of 5 years electrician experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems up to 13.8 kv

  • Ability to interpret and understand electrical drawings, schematics and equipment manuals

  • Experience with motor starter/switch gear troubleshooting both A/C and D/C systems

  • General understanding of E&I systems troubleshooting and process safety management

  • Abilitiy to work overtime and respond to callouts within one hour of being called
