Summary

As a Transportation Analyst at Caterpillar, you will have an opportunity to support China facility inbound shipment management.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing transportation plans and identifying opportunities for improvements to velocity, visibility or cost saving.

• Implementing and maintaining monitoring systems to provide information on shipment status, shipped date, in transit location, estimated arrival date, and actual delivery date.

• Generating and analyzing reports of transportation costs, carrier performance and lead times.

• Assisting in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity and providing solutions to reduce lead times.

• Co-ordination with international carriers, forwarders, and customs brokers

• Exception Shipment Management

• Work closely with facility supply chain team to solve the issues.

• Establishing and executing Standard Operating Procedures and Shipping Instructions

• KPI Management and Metrics Reporting

• Facilitating all introduction and review meetings between facility and transportation as well as service provider.

Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Provides prompt and effective responses to client requests and interactions.

• Monitors client satisfaction levels on a regular basis.

• Alerts own team to problems in client satisfaction.

• Differentiates the roles and responsibilities in a business relationship.

• Works with clients to address critical issues and resolve major problems.

Transportation - PHA: Knowledge of and experience with the means of transporting materials and goods to and from suppliers, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities and customers the manufacturing facility.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Works with at least one type of transportation mode and carrier.

• Ensures on time shipments; anticipates and resolves shipping problems.

• Describes common costs and associated billing and freight payment procedures.

• Describes pros and cons of different types of domestic transportation alternatives.

• Recounts process for issuing bids and analyzing responses from carriers.

Logistics Management: Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials; ability to understand, predict and control the movement of goods, materials and supplies.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Uses tools, with guidance, to forecast delivery times, determine costs and assess performance.

• Works with logistics in a domestic environment.

• Maintains records of all shipments and invoices using an established system.

• Assists in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity.

• Participates in integrating logistics processes and developing effective networks.
