Google Web Solutions Engineer, gTech Tools Development and Automation in Sunnyvale, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math or related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience in software development.

  • 2 years of experience in full-stack software development.

  • Experience with backend languages (e.g., Java, Python, or C++).

  • Experience with front end languages (e.g., JavaScript or TypeScript).

  • Experience working with database technologies (e.g. SQL, NoSQL).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience designing and optimizing databases.

  • Experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders on project requirements.

  • Experience with unit testing, agile software development, and bug and change management systems.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with stakeholders to provide technical solutions to business challenges.

As a Web Solutions Engineer on the Tools Development and Automation team, you will be responsible for managing solutions that make our broader Global Business Organization more efficient. You will help drive the development of tools and will be involved in ideating required product features and designing/implementing quick and scalable solutions. You will work with Google’s infrastructure to handle big problems over large datasets.

In this role, you will be working as a part of an Engineering team responsible for developing and supporting tools, prototyping proofs of concept, and writing/reviewing technical design documents to meet the needs of our services teams. You will adhere to Google’s software development best practices and work in close partnership with other Project/Product Management and Engineering teams.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $99,000-$145,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Build full-stack web software in Java and TypeScript, including back-end services, data models, and front-end components, for users within technical services and business organizations.

  • Collaborate with Product Engineers to enhance core platforms and create applications using standard and Google-specific software development tools.

  • Write and review technical documents, including design, development, revision documents and review code in compiled or scripted languages.

  • Analyze, review, and modify programs to increase operating efficiency or meet new requirements as well as execute testing, debugging, maintenance or program updates.
