Staff Web Platform Engineer

What does a Web Platform Engineer at Clover do?

About The Team

Clover is looking for a highly skilled and motivated software engineer to join our growing Web Platform (App Infrastructure) team. This team’s primary objective is to provide Clover web engineers with exceptional development experience across our web platforms while supporting the large-scale expansion of our engineering teams.

What You Will Do

• Build and maintain self-service tools for web developers

• Develop a deep understanding of how we serve web applications, becoming a Clover web SME

• Contribute to innovation, improvements, and the evolution of our patterns, practices, and foundational tech

• Support web engineering teams as they integrate and build on our web platforms

• Create onboarding materials and documentation for our engineers (videos, tutorials, etc.)

• Engage directly with web engineers to understand use cases, needs, and build empathy

• Collaborate with other members of the WIN team to design, debate, and architect solutions

• Participate in an on-call rotation for production-level web infrastructure

What You Will Need To Have

• Bachelor's Degree (preferably Comp Sci or Engineering) or equivalent technical education

• 6+ years of software development experience with a focus on web

• Experience building/maintaining large-scale web applications, frameworks, or libraries

• Experience delivering web UIs as a feature developer

• 5+ years of experience developing in Javascript and HTML ecosystems

• Proficiency with source control and CI systems (GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins)

What Would Be Great To Have

• Web application SDLC and web platform constructs

• Build, deployment, hosting, load balancing, caching

• HTTP, browser security, authentication, data fetch & persistence

• Deep knowledge of React, Webpack, modern tools

• Typescript

• Clean code, modern JS syntax, code quality/readability

• Localization

• Javascript test frameworks (jest, etc.)

• Node.js

• Some DevOps experience, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)

• npm packages, versioning

• Understanding of web performance

Salary Range

$124,300.00 - $213,100.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New York and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
