The Role:

As a Sr. Technical Program Manager, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative consumer products. We are looking for someone with consumer electronics savvy and a proven track record of shipping commercially successful connected devices with outstanding customer experiences. This is a highly technical role requiring experience with hardware and software development. You will have significant influence over the design and the test approach we take to develop the product. You will be responsible for capturing, documenting, and communicating requirements throughout all stages of the product family's lifecycle. The right candidate will possess a strong technical and program management background, and will have a well-rounded technical background in IoT products and applications.

The role also involves scoping and delivering large projects end-to-end, collecting requirements, writing specifications, and coordinating design/implementation efforts. Ideally, you possess a strong program management background, demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and a well-rounded technical proficiency in

consumer IoT products. A Sr. TPM anticipates bottlenecks, uses great judgment to make trade-offs, and balances the business needs with technical constraints. Your ability to understand the big picture of the project design and anticipate and plan dependencies is crucial. Your ability to take complex projects, break them into manageable pieces, and deliver timely results is invaluable.

Key job responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality products that optimize performance, cost, manufacturing, and reliability.

  • Work with key stakeholders in product management and engineering teams to define product requirements

  • Lead cross functional product development from design through delivery

  • Manage timeline, dependencies, and deliverables. Work with remote teams to deliver supporting hardware and software in sync with launch timelines.

  • Communicate regularly with senior management on status, risks and change control

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • 7+ years of hardware development experience across the full product life cycle – concept to production

  • 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams delivering products on schedule

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with Hardware engineering teams experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience in working with overseas CM/OEM/ODM vendors in product development

  • Ability to lead interdisciplinary discussions between Hardware, Reliability, and Firmware teams to define and drive scope and clarity of work

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Track record of successfully delivering complete systems (hardware, firmware, software) on time, to scope, with high quality

  • Ability to regularly engage with senior stake holders and influence across the organization

  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines

  • High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
