Key job responsibilities

As an Manufacturing Design Engineer (MDE) Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for defining and implementing Controls and Electrical Design Architecture to the Pack Automation Line of our products. You will be a key member of the development team and will be the main interface between the Hardware, Product Operations, Factory Operations and Automation Integrator team.

A day in the life

In a dynamic environment collaboratively executing design reviews, making plans with instructions on how the assembly will be achieved in a well designed manufacturing environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with design engineering to design electrical and controls architecture for the automated line

  • Work backwards from factory-related operational requirements of pack out line ensuring effective closure to enable operational success of the new product introduction cycle

  • Work within Operations, Hardware, and Product Design engineering departments to implement and achieve performance targets

  • Support cost reduction and sustaining activities

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 10+ yrs of Electrical/Controls related experience in hardware solutions for automation, robotics, or similar area

  • Fluent in robot, PLC programming and electrical designs solving complex technical challenges

  • 5+ years of experience in Allen Bradley or Rockwell PLC

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent

  • C++ or C Sharp or Python programming

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
