Amazon Quality Assurance Engineer, Alexa Echo Spatial Perception in Sunnyvale, California

Alexa Sensing and Perception team is situated at the center of all Alexa customer experiences. As more and more customers setup multiple Alexa enabled devices in their home, we are looking for a QA Engineer to build automation and ensure high quality in the foundational capabilities to enable immersive experiences that involve multiple Alexa enabled devices.

You will be part of Alexa Echo Spatial Perception (ESP) team which comprises of software developers and directly interact with Principal and Sr. Engineers, Sr. Product Managers, Sr. Program Managers, Applied Scientists, and other leaders of Alexa org.

Your role is to build automation to test multi-device solutions, build and maintain lab test mimicking customer scenarios, influence engineering to prioritize changes which improves the quality of ESP. You'll measure your success by the quality of your deliverables, pace of innovation you help drive, and the impact you make for our customers.

Key job responsibilities

  • Preparing Test Plan & Test Strategy for the QA Org.

  • Write test plans & test cases

  • Execute both functional & Perf. tests

  • Automate tests by leveraging existing automation - frameworks and making enhancements in existing frameworks

  • Add automated tests to the pipelines to have a scalable DevOps model with minimum developer friction

  • Manage ESP lab and reconfigure setup to suit various testing needs in ESP

A day in the life

Alexa ESP team is a small Agile family. This means you'll enjoy an outsized impact and the benefit of having many different responsibilities. All within a day, you'll gather requirements, dissambiguate and build test cases, automate tests and report on quality for new and existing features, analyze stability of these features, reproduction of a bug from customers, review a technical spec with the team, prioritize incoming CS tickets, and collaborate with product to provide delightful customer experiences. Our engineers are owners and technical product specialists, in a truly fun and exceptionally high impact space.

About the team

This team built Alexa's Echo Spatial Perception (ESP) capability, which ensures only the device closest will respond to the customer. This role has direct impact on millions of Alexa customers and thousands of Alexa Skill developers worldwide.

Sunnyvale, CA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of quality assurance engineering experience

  • Experience in manual testing

  • Experience in automation testing

  • Experience as QA lead on medium to large sized projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with at least one automated test framework like Selenium or Appium

  • Experience in gathering test requirements to create detailed test plans and defining quality metrics to measure product quality

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $102,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
