Summary
This role will build up a data science and ML team to mine insights from the transactions generated by the 26 payment tenders that Walmart transacts in on a daily basis in stores and online for US and International across Walmart and Sam's Club. This team will determine how to reflect these insights into the customer experiences and partner with their business and finance counterparts to realize concrete revenue gains or increased customer engagement.
About Team
This position is with Transactional System under the Enterprise Business Services organization (EBS). Transactional Systems is focused on enabling our segment and technology partners in creating wonderful omni experiences on top of retail technology platform operations. From payment processing for all Walmart businesses (including Walmart and Sam's stores, online commerce for both US and International), cart, checkout, preventing Fraud and running promotions to Walmart+ members to developing programs such as Walmart Cash, digital rewards, and incentive programs our team helps create a seamless and risk-free shopping experience for our customers.
The mission of Transactional Systems Team is to drive customer engagement and revenue growth directly through world-class secure checkout, payments (30+ tender integrations), Directed Spend, and promotions that is fraud-free. We fulfill this through a global, highly-available, full-stack platform with automated resiliency managed through formal SLAs uniformly applicable to the omni channels wherever possible and commercially reusable.
What you'll do:
We are looking for a leader passionate about building systems at scale. You will lead a world-class engineering team consisting of ML/AI engineers, data scientists, distributed systems engineers, and product managers to drive best practices, shape up technical strategy and data architecture, and develop data products to enable business insights (data science), client reporting, and better customer experiences.
Partner with business and product teams and build products that delights our customers
Help cross-functional teams to solve for business problems and develop solutions that enable us to redefine a "best-in-class" experience.
Encourage the teams that you oversee to work collaboratively and deliver insight-driven outcomes.
Maintain an upbeat attitude and enjoyment in a fast-paced environment
What You'll Bring:
10+ years of experience in building and scaling data teams with a focus on data strategy, infrastructure planning, architecture, and data products
Product sense with an understanding of product drivers and of how to guide value using data across the organization
Demonstrated experience developing influential relationships and trust with senior leaders across engineering, product, and business.
Prior experience partnering with Analytics, Data Science, Engineering and Product Management teams.
Demonstrated experience leading geographically distributed teams across multiple time zones.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $254,000.00-$481,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and
8 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 10 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
5 years' supervisory experience.
