As the Manager of Field Diagnostics Engineering, you will lead a team has proven itself by delivering high-quality hardware and software diagnostic solutions that support field repair technicians and enhance the Apple customer ownership experience. Building and nurturing partnerships with multi-functional teams both within and outside of AppleCare is key to success in this role. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, disciplined, and driven to succeed in a challenging environment.

Description

As the Manager of the Field Diagnostics Engineering team, you will lead efforts to define the future of device-based diagnostics for a variety of Apple’s hardware products. This rapidly evolving field requires developing next-generation diagnostic tools that will be in use for the next decade. The ability to build designs that persevere through technological advancements and new system architectures is essential. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of innovation, strong collaboration skills, excellent communication, and a passion for enhancing the end customer experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10 years in software development, with at least 4 years in a software organization management role.

  • Experience in computer / hardware architecture

  • Experienced with git and other source version control software

  • Proven track record of driving technical innovation.

  • Effective collaboration with multi-functional teams to understand requirements and identify design and engineering impacts.

  • Demonstrated ability to hire, grow, and mentor strong teams.

  • A solution-oriented work ethic with a high degree of flexibility in supporting multiple projects with a range of complexity and priority.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to multi-functional teams and leaders.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and savvy at encouraging positive team dynamics.

  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Self-motivated with a collaborative spirit to build positive relationships with other engineering teams and follow up on technical issues.

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or related fields of study with 10 years of overall experience in the industry.

  • Experience with macOS or iOS overall system architecture, and security infrastructure/models

  • Strong working knowledge of CPUs, GPUs and SOCs

  • Experience with manufacturing or repair operations flows

  • Ability to dive deep technically and understand the nuances of Apple products and systems.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $210,900 and $316,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
