Job Title: Assistant Controller

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to oversee various accounting and administrative duties. This role involves managing monthly account reconciliations, financial reporting, and supervising accounts payable and receivable. The successful candidate will work closely with the Field Service Manager and other key personnel to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly account reconciliations.

  • Manage daily accounts receivable and bank reconciliation.

  • Handle month-end journal entries.

  • Conduct monthly inventory reconciliation.

  • Produce monthly and quarterly financial statements.

  • Oversee all accounts payable and accounts receivable, including supervision of another employee.

  • Collect aged receivables.

  • Review all payable invoices for accuracy before entering them into Sage.

  • Create weekly forecasts of accounts payables and accounts receivables.

  • Assign job numbers to all projects, prepare invoices, and track milestone invoices and payments.

  • Collaborate with the Field Service Manager to ensure the accuracy of weekly field service invoices.

  • Prepare emergency cost write-ups for the Field Service Manager to review before invoicing emergency jobs.

  • Audit the monthly American Express bill.

  • Manage sales tax for seven states.

  • Coordinate with bank personnel for loan transactions and renewals.

  • Perform human resource duties, including onboarding new personnel and administering company benefits.

  • Administer payroll, including weekly 401k distribution, preparing the annual 5500 report, and calculating profit sharing contributions when awarded.

  • Review and verify weekly expense reports.

  • Complete and file the annual OSHA report and Manufacturing Report.

  • Obtain yearly Certificate of Insurance documents.

  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the President and Operations Manager.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of full cycle accounting experience.

  • Experience with financial reporting and month-end processes.

  • Proficiency in accounts payable and accounts receivable management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.

  • Experience in HR/Benefits administration, including insurance and 401k.

  • General ledger reconciliation and financial statement preparation.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus but not required.

Work Environment

This position is onsite in a small company located in Sun Prairie. The role offers extensive hands-on training from the current accountant, providing significant exposure to full cycle accounting and management experience.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $85000.00

80 hours PTO 0-5 years; 120 hours PTO 5+ years. 401k match up to 3%, company will contribute an additional 1% if employee contributes 5%.
