Description
Ohmstede Ltd., an EMCOR Industrial Services Company, is one of the largest manufacturers of shell and tube heat exchangers in the United States. Operating out of state-of-the-art facilities, we provide fully integrated turnaround, specialty maintenance, and heat exchanger fabrication from a single point of responsibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Review key aspects of customer material requisitions including drawings, heat exchanger specification sheets, customer specifications, industry recommended practices, terms-and conditions
Assess key drivers, such as customer deadlines, and how they relate to internal scheduling among different departments
Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings for scope review and gather other pertinent information necessary for a quality bid—occasionally requiring short-term travel for one or two days
Prepare detailed labor, material, and subcontract estimates based on customer requirements
Review customer requirements with engineering, manufacturing, and upper management to discuss strategies
Submit final approved bid to customer and answer any requests for clarification
Follow up on all bids submitted to customers
Process orders in a timely manner
Hand over newly processed jobs to engineering and manufacturing, clearly communicating key aspects of projects such as customer specifications, material lead times, ship dates, and other commercial requirements
Process change orders over the life of a project, communicating any technical or commercial changes to respective departments.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Minimum of eight years of experience in the refinery industry with mechanical and piping background and/or a four-year undergraduate degree in engineering
Estimating background with a verifiable record of success
Previous experience in craft and field work preferred
Have excellent skills in:
Verbal and written communication and persuasion
Organization, time management, and multi-tasking
Must:
Possess strong technical knowledge in a variety of fields, such as nondestructive examination, welding, machining, general fabrication, shell and tube heat exchangers, vessels, and towers
Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Projects
Articulate estimating work practices to all levels of the organization
Prioritize and organize work in a fast-paced environment
Meet strict deadlines
Work well with others and be a strong team player
Be able and willing to travel by vehicle or airplane overnight occasionally
