Amentum Paralegal in Suitland, Maryland
Amentum is seeking a DMA II to assist with USCIS's litigation support for the Visa Petition Appeals (VPA) team. Responsibilities include, data entry, scanning, and verifying the accuracy and consistency of information across systems, to ensure information on all files is current. This allows attorneys and paralegal to find case information (record numbers, family names, local office, file location, etc.).
Following a prescribed format or detailed guidelines, completes the following job duties:
Conducts intake of Records of Proceedings case files (ROP) by scanning them for upload into SharePoint. Accurately enters ROP data into databases.
Updates databases with decisions listed in the ROP made by the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
Close the cases in databases and make the necessary updates for tracking the case.
Create weekly spreadsheet reports by comparing information from ROPs to the database fields, ensuring a file’s database location matches with actual drawer location. Assures accuracy for reports to be provided to the attorney.
Updates databases used for tracking ROP correspondence, visa petition appeals, legal advice, and federal litigation.
Reviews and updates database or hard copies of case materials to ensure the status of the case is accurate including the name of the attorney assigned, the next comments, and deadline.
Organizes, updates, and ensures completeness of individual litigation files in various databases including the status and location of the applications/petitions subject of case and other factual details used by attorneys to determine the validity of facts. Once updated, releases to paralegals to coordinate return of case files and next any steps.
Confidently use a variety of computer applications to include, but not limited to, word processing, document management database, spreadsheets, etc. Navigates between databases pulling case information (record numbers, family names, local office, file location, etc.) for paralegal's case file.
Databases include Project Management Tool (PMT), Person Centric Query System (PCQS), RAILS, Electronic Immigration System (ELIS), Enterprise Correspondence Handling Online (ECHO), Consular-Consolidated-Database (CCD), Benefits-hub, Person Centric Identity Services (PCIS). National Files Tracking System (NFTS), Computer Linked Application Information Management System (CLAI)
Qualifications:
Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT (moderate risk public trust) facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
Requires three years of experience on major litigation support projects or undergraduate degree.
Demonstrates ability to work independently in a team environment.
Must have excellent oral communication capabilities. Strong writing skills preferred.
Familiarity with the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to, data processing environments, including office automation networks, PC-based databases and other applications, Internet, and server-based databases.
Should be knowledgeable user of Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheet, imaging, and hardware systems.
Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources preferred.
Must be able to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure.
