Fiserv Data Science, Senior Analyst in Sugar Land, Texas

This position can be located in New Jersey, Marietta, Houston or Coral Springs.

What does a great Data Science, Senior Analyst do?

You will work under the guidance of a Director or Portfolio Manager, who supports transaction risk management for of a portfolio of merchant accounts. You will develop and implement machine learning models and rules to mitigate fraud and credit risk. You will analyze ambiguous data to understand trends, reach conclusions, and develop strategies to improve portfolio performance. Provide internal and external reporting and analytics on an ongoing and ad hoc basis. You will monitor key metrics and ensures accounts are meeting all contractual SLAs and communicate directly with external customers.

The business title for this role is Sr. Risk Analyst.

As a Data Science, Senior Analyst, you can look forward to:

Managing a portfolio that produces $30 million in yearly warranties/check guarantees. Risk management is a key transactional differentiator, if risk management is not conducted properly, there is impact to Telecheck reputation and public image, legal exposure and operational areas.

You will be the direct driver in the ability to meet forecast of yearly financial plan; tasked with approximately $2 million in yearly savings. For these accounts, create statistical business models and rule sets to reduce net write-off, monitor accounts to validate authorization system processing and perform to expectations. Serve as a technical leader within group and manages more substantial portfolios. You will work with minimal supervision. You will work on self-directed and manager-directed inquiries. Significant changes to existing risk programs will be approved by management. You will communicate autonomously to sales and service groups at the manager and director levels.

Additionally, position will directly communicate with external customers. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Basic Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Bachelor's degree is required

  • 2 years experience in an analytical role.

  • Strong background in a technical and analytical business environment with a proven track record of success and increasing responsibilities.

  • Extensive experience working with, understanding, and analyzing large amounts of data. This will include a demonstrated ability to efficiently retrieve data from multiple data sources with strong Access and Excel skills.

  • Experience with SQL

  • Possess the ability to effectively represent Risk Control through written and verbal interaction with external and internal clients.

Preferred Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Masters' degree

  • 4+ years of experience in an analytical role.

  • Python, R Studio, or other statistical languages.

  • Experience with SAS

  • Tableau, Power BI, and other data analytics and visualization tools.

  • Predictive modeling and big data experience.

  • Background in a modeling and testing (champion/challenger) environment.

  • An understanding of the check/payments industry.
