Part Time Weekend Dayshift

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

To strengthen, personalize and enhance the customer services extended to the patients and visitors of Harbour View Medical Center. To anticipate the needs of anyone entering the lobby of the hospital even before they inquire. To constantly demonstrate and exhibit the mission and philosophy of Bon Secours. To maintain order and continuity of information given to our customers in a friendly and helpful manner. To maintain a specific, effective channel through which patients and seek solutions to problems, concerns and unmet needs, and to expand communications to patients, visitors, and family members.

Minimum Education:

High school diploma required. Experience in hospital setting and understanding of hospital operations is preferred.

Minimum Experience:

The ability to relate tactfully, diplomatically, and objectively with a wide range of patients, visitors and hospital associates. Ability to convey warmth and interest in the customer as a person and to anticipate their needs.

Skills:

Excellent communication skills, a working knowledge of

standard office machines such as fax, copier, and computer with knowledge of Microsoft Outlook for communicating with hospital staff and managers preferred.

Essential Job Functions

Essential Functions:

Perform general duties for Patient and Guest Services including: Welcome and greet all patients and visitors. Be able to navigate patients and visitors to their destination and escort as needed. Be familiar and able to give information about every function of Harbour View Medical Center. Keep accurate telephone lists, contact lists and pagers. Keep records of daily admissions, discharges and transfers, as needed. Work with the volunteers to maintain constant coverage of the work area. Distribution of all patient mail, as needed. Provide lodging and restaurant resources for visitors. Know the manager of each department so you can refer a concern when one is presented. Encourage and maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Demonstrate politeness and efficiency at all times. Provide office and supply support, as needed. Attend in-service educational meetings and relative staff meetings. Participate in projects and programs as requested or indicated.

  2. Performs other duties as assigned. Assists and supports other departments when needed.
