Akima Communications and Network Technician in Suffolk, Virginia
Akima Systems Engineering is looking for a Communications and Network Technician to manage systems for the US Coast Guard's C5I Service Center.
Responsibilities
Telecommunications and network installations; planning, monitoring, and testing the installation of cable to include fiber and network backbone implementation; development of testing and diagnostic software; and telecommunications and network troubleshooting procedures.
Directs completion of tasks within estimated timeframes and budget constraints. Schedules and assigns duties to subordinates and formulates and enforces work standards.
Coordinates with the client and Program Manager to ensure problem resolution and customer satisfaction.
Serves as task lead as required.
Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering, changes.
Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.
Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices. This position may provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians
Qualifications
High School diploma and certificate from an accredited Community or Technical College in fiber and data cabling with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a communications/network technician is required.
A Secret clearance is required.
Pay Range
30-31 per hour
