Description:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Primarily responsible for providing maintenance oversight and support for Stringtown Quarry operations to include safety, environmental, compliance, and efficiency. Responsible for executing the maintenance plan in order to ensure effective processing of raw materials for the production of sellable products to meet customer requirements in the safest, timeliest and cost-effective manner. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the position is responsible for executing and developing plant and mobile maintenance strategies to achieve operational excellence while maintaining operational cost controls. Additionally, the position works with the Production Team to execute the maintenance plan effectively by supporting the team through planning, scheduling, ordering and preparing materials and tools required for the maintenance tasks.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Ensure the safety of personnel and assets for which responsible by completing regular training on all health and safety standards and environmental guidelines. Monitors work performance and addresses situations that do not conform to standards immediately.

  • Primarily oversees maintenance of fixed and mobile equipment.

  • Oversees the overall safety of all personnel working at, or visiting the site.

  • Maintains an effective system of communication with employees, supervisors, and site management.

  • Performs job briefing at the start of each shift to include what is to be done by each employee and goals for the shift, stressing safe working procedures in the process.

  • Conducts toolbox safety meetings at least once per week, before the work begins to discuss major safety initiatives, and near misses, as well as to provide an overview of Company-wide information impacting the workforce.

  • Promotes health and safety audits, route inspections of safety practices, devices, and equipment, and regular completion of job safety analyses. Consistently identifies ways to improve the safety culture.

  • Coordinate safety issues and investigate incidents with management and the safety department.

  • Ensure environmental compliance, rehabilitation, and compliance with operational permit obligations.

  • Inspects the work areas to determine the type of work required and the materials and equipment to be used.

  • Makes recommendations for workforce planning, hiring, training, development, work allocation, conflict resolution, performance evaluations, and separations.

  • Investigates abnormal operating events, or equipment failures to determine the cause, and make adjustments, repairs, and/or modifications, as needed.

  • Ensures conformance with policies and procedures, safety regulations, and local, State, and Federal laws and regulations.

  • Acts as a go-to resource for troubleshooting plant and mobile malfunctions, SAP, and other special needs.

  • May act as a liaison between employees and support functions such as HR, Payroll, and Benefits.

  • Supervise and coordinate the plant and mobile maintenance team to maintain productivity levels, efficiency, and safety while managing the assigned area with fiscal integrity.

  • Manage the performance of assigned personnel - delegate responsibilities while objectively evaluating performance and holding them accountable in a constructive manner.

  • Develop and implement strategies/ best practices for achieving continuous improvement in efficiency and productivity of the main production plant and mobile fleet. (meet/exceed BDP for throughput).

  • Review weekly and monthly forecasts with management and commercial teams to address production schedules to meet customer needs.

  • Perform statistical analysis for continuous improvement and management, prepare reports, and maintain appropriate department records and files, as required. Updates the daily Communications Board with daily/weekly/monthly safety statistics

  • Provide work direction, training, and support to maintenance workers responsible for inspecting, repairing, moving, and/or installing plant machinery and equipment in accordance with instructions, equipment manuals, etc.

  • Review and generate weekly maintenance plan and backlog with Operations and obtain agreement on the plan/schedule for next week. Supports and assists personnel in achieving timely and efficient production schedules

  • Plan major maintenance projects and work with plant management to develop capital investment recommendations for senior management.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required Education: Bachelor's/University Degree but comparable experience may be substituted for a degree.

Required Work Experience: 5 to 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities in a Maintenance and mining facility.

Travel Requirements: 5%

Computer and Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint. SAP experience helpful.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
