Vontier VP, Information Technology in Stow, Ohio

The Vice President Information Technology (IT) will report dually to the Matco Tools operating company President, and dotted line to the overall Vontier Corporate Enterprise Chief Information Officer (VP IT). The VP IT will serve as a key executive and member of the Matco Tools senior business operating leadership team. The role will be based in Stow Ohio due to the need for significant collaboration with the other Matco Executives.

The VP IT will be responsible for leading a robust digital transformation and delivery of new enterprise solutions, customer systems, and integrated capabilities to accelerate the organizations efficiencies and help to drive revenue and market growth across the business. This individual will be a highly collaborative strategic leader in the organization, focused on developing and delivering the digital business strategy and creating the technology roadmap to support company growth.

The immediate priority for the company is to increase Matco’s revenues and sales to Technicians, Tech Ed Students, and eCommerce customers by creating a unified digital customer experience. This will require ongoing IT modernization of the current Matco Distributor Business System (POS), Distributor Mobile App and eCommerce solution to enable new marketing capabilities and a new digital customer experience.

The new technology investments are expected to also be optimized with the adjacent enterprise-resource-planning (ERP), customer-relationship-management (CRM), and supply-chain-management (SCM) environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• The VP IT will be responsible for leading both the strategic direction and tactical execution and delivery of end-to-end technology solutions to ensure Matco Tools meets its business, financial, and strategic growth objectives.

• This leader will be responsible for building relationships and partnering with key stakeholders across the Matco Tools business to thoroughly understand evolving business needs, and proactively engage, influence, and gain support, to implement and deliver IT-enabled enterprise-wide strategic solutions.

• In addition to delivering exceptional operating performance in digital technology modernization, the VP IT will be expected to lead and influence strategic technology investments across business. This includes evaluating technology capabilities that promote value creation in

• continuous improvement, data-driven decision making, digital business operations, mobility solutions, Internet-of-Things (IoT), diagnostics solutions, customer operations, and business process efficiency.

• The VP IT will be responsible for leading a 40-person FTE team, plus third-party delivery resources, supporting United States and Canada. This leader will manage a technology investment product-program portfolio and OpEx budget of $7-$10 million annually.

• Moreover, there is a strong desire and need for a greater level of proactive IT engagement, collaboration and partnership across the business, and a shared ownership for enterprise IT change and success. This includes improved governance, accountability, and measurement at the strategic level.

• The VP IT will be expected to provide the technical thought leadership and judgment to quickly assess current state, define-refine future state, and lead a modernization of the current environment.

• Experience leading change management initiatives and reengineering of processes within an environment where business partnership and relationship management, are critical. As the key, visible, leader in the organization, the VP IT values continuous process improvement, aptitude to learn, creativity, curiosity, and the ability to apply new technologies.

• This leader will be energetic, with keen business acumen, possess a strong understanding of technical platforms, and industry competitive products and services.

• She/He will also be a seasoned and proven relationship builder, collaborator, and partner to senior business operating stakeholders and executives. The VP IT is expected to be a mature leader with the presence, credibility, and confidence to present and credibly influence at regular meetings with the senior business operations leadership team.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with business functions to understand customer and market requirements to translate them into digital products and services that enable strategic business outcomes.

• Lead the organization to drive innovative and strategic thinking for the company such as enterprise architecture, innovation management and R&D, while supporting other innovation efforts throughout the business.

• Develop and deliver technology strategy, vision, and roadmap in alignment with the Matco’s digital business strategy.

• Deliver customer experience and digital commerce products including POS, Mobile apps, eCommerce and content management system, marketing technologies, sales systems, CRM, customer experience design (UI/UX), and field and customer service support.

• Work with solution partners and product vendors to develop digital products for customers including diagnostics and digital workflow solutions, IoT platform and product innovation.

• Deliver Data & Analytics capabilities including Business Intelligence (BI), advanced analytics (AI & ML), data governance and data engineering.

• Manage Enterprise Applications delivery and support including ERP, supply chain & Distribution, procurement & merchandising, financial services, and corporate applications.

• Support ongoing implementation efforts of Agile and DevOps processes, and build product management organization.

• Manage technology vendors for software, hardware, and services procurement.

• Manage IT budget.

WHO YOU ARE

• A minimum of 15 years progressive IT leadership experience, including successful delivery of modern-era architected digital products. A minimum of 5-10 years of direct IT senior leadership responsibility.

• Preferred industry experience includes retail channel, online-consumer B2C and/or online digitally enabled B2B distributor businesses, that leverage integrated digital marketing, POS, mobile apps, online commerce, and digital customer experience solutions. A blend of combined career experience in both industry and digital commerce solutions consulting will also be considered.

• Proven technical digital products-solutions experience and analysis strength, including today’s contemporary tech stack, technical architecture, platforms, engineering, build-deliver-support models, and how they create value for the business – leveraging cloud platforms, Data & Analytics, IoT, and future artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) capabilities.

• Experience successfully implementing Agile, DevOps and Product Management practices.

• Proven ability to collaborate, influence and build consensus with senior business operations executive leadership.

• Proven experience leading technical platform buy-build and integrate assessment, along with leading external solution partner service levels and relationship management experience for on-prem and offsite cloud architected solutions.

• Dynamic leadership ability that can attract, hire, develop, retain, energize, and inspire a high-performance team, to evolve and apply new skills-techniques-approaches to changing business requirements.

• Demonstrated understanding and utilization of financial data, corporate scorecard information, and key performance indicators to support accountability, transparency, and performance management.

• Strong business planning, analytical, financial acumen, and conceptual skills, including RFP-process, evaluation, and vendor-solution-partner selection.

• Demonstrated network of competitive peers and thought leaders in the industry, along with current knowledge of industry trends, leading-edge technologies, capabilities, and innovation developments.

• Demonstrated ability to make effective written and verbal presentations to senior executive management.

• A bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited university or college, ideally in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or related discipline; a master’s degree or M.B.A. would enhance the candidate’s qualifications but is not required.

Travel: Role requires travel up to 20% at times.
