The Research Foundation for The State University of New York at Stony Brook Research Support Specialist in Stony Brook, New York

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in biology-related field. Practical laboratory experience with molecular cloning.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience generating and maintaining mammalian cell lines. Experience in image analysis using Python or MATLAB. Experience with high-resolution optical imaging. Experience with western blotting.Brief Description of Duties:
The Research Laboratory Assistant position in the Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology assists a Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Lina Carlini, with research experiments involving DNA cloning and mammalian cell line maintenance/creation. The successful candidate will work under the close supervision and direction of the PI. This position offers an exciting opportunity for professional development and advancement.

Duties:

  • Assist Principal Investigator with projects in the laboratory that involve molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture and microscopy.
  • Assist Principal Investigator with the management of the laboratory including ordering and maintaining supplies, lab stocks; learn and follow all safety procedures.
  • Participate in weekly lab meetings and aid in technical training of students.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned.
