This posting will be used to fill one limited DEI Specialist Senior vacancy. The position has a projected end date of June 30, 2027
The position is under the Agency's Office of Equity and Environmental Justice team at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). This position is responsible for a variety of key diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, including the development, implementation, and management of the Agency’s Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) program. Additionally, the role will serve as the primary point of contact for the Agency’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), overseeing its development, execution, and administration of the program. The position will also contribute to the creation and facilitation of the Agency’s broader DEI program, helping to advance the organization's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This work is rooted in the core values of fostering an inclusive and respectful environment, promoting belonging, and ensuring that all voices are heard and valued. By championing these values, the position plays a crucial role in advancing a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion at the Agency.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years advanced professional experience planning, implementing and developing programs in a position with a diversity, equity and inclusion focus and demonstrates working with diverse communities and building relationships within those communities. (A bachelor's degree in Education, Public Policy, Human Services, Public Administration, Business Administration can substitute for 1 year of experience) AND
Knowledge of adult development theory and practices and understanding of training techniques/methods.
Knowledge of data metrics and using data tracking tools to measure progress and results.
Presentation and facilitation skills sufficient to make effective presentations before large groups of people both in classroom and virtual environments (i.e. computer skills sufficient to produce documents, spreadsheets and presentations).
Interpersonal skills sufficient to engage and connect to diverse groups and individuals.
Strong coaching skills to help leaders and their teams grow in inclusion.
Knowledge of IDI and ability to obtain certification as a qualified administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory within one year of hire.
Knowledge of Employee Resource Groups, including how to administer and foster inclusive spaces for employees.

Preferred Qualifications
An advanced degree in Education, Public Policy, Human Services, Public Administration, Business Administration.
Experience in a consultative role identifying issues and creating solutions options to achieve diversity and inclusion strategic goals and initiatives.
Work-related experience in Social Justice, Anti-racism, Unconscious/Implicit Bias.
Believes racial equity and inclusion are important and is driven to act on this belief.
Additional Requirements
Position duties may require travel but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position. Employees who may drive for state business will need their driver’s license checked prior to operating a state vehicle.
