JOB SPECIFICS
The Building Systems Technician II performs a variety of basic to highly-skilled technical work in building and grounds systems operation and maintenance in all County buildings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The job requires a high school diploma or equivalent AND a combination of three years of full-time work experience in building operations and maintenance and/or vocational training courses related to building operations and maintenance, or equivalent. A directly-related internship may be applied towards required work experience. A Minnesota Special Class "C" Boilers License is required. Must have and maintain a valid class D driver's license.
Must have and maintain a valid class D drivers' license.
Must be eligible to successfully obtain the following licensure: Power Limited Technician, and Minnesota Well Contractor.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minnesota First Class "C" Boilers License is highly desired.
SELECTION TECHNIQUE: Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top-scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.
HOURS/DAYS: 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.
ANTICIPATED HIRING RATE: $26.18 - $30.92Hourly

JOB SUMMARY
The Building Systems Technician performs a variety of basic to highly-skilled technical work in building and grounds systems operation and maintenance in all County buildings.
EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent AND a combination of three years of full-time work experience in building operations and maintenance and/or vocational training courses related to building operations and maintenance, or equivalent. A directly-related internship may be applied to the required work experience. A Minnesota Second Class "C" Boilers License is required OR will need to be obtained within 6-months of employment.
Must be eligible to successfully obtain the following licensures within one year of hire: Minnesota Well Contractor and EPA Certification. Must obtain the following licensure within three years of hire: Power Limited Technician.
Individuals operating a motor vehicle for County business must possess a valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minnesota First Class "C" Boilers License is highly desired.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs scheduled interior and exterior maintenance tasks:
• Performs a variety of building and grounds system maintenance and routine preventive maintenance tasks;
• Monitors performance and operation of building and grounds systems and advises supervisor of deficiencies or malfunctions;
• Performs minor repairs to building and grounds systems;
• Performs installation and modifications of furniture, fixtures, and equipment;
• Completes forms, logs, and other documentation as required;
• Performs or assists in testing of critical safety systems, identifies deficiencies, and advises supervisor accordingly;
• Performs highly skilled work as required;
• Assists contractors in highly skilled work as needed;
• Responds to building and grounds related issues, including after normal business hours, analyzes the situation, notifies proper contacts, and takes appropriate action to resolve the situation;
• Performs snow and ice control tasks to include the operation of motorized equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed at county building locations. Work is performed in an environment that consists of 80% inside work and 20% outside (weather condition) including high elevations (5-story building) and confined areas. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling up to 20 lbs in the performance of the duties; up to 100 pounds with or without assistance on a rare basis. Duties include being able to perform the following movements on a frequent basis: walking, bending, turning/twisting, climbing, kneeling, reaching out, grasping, wrist turning, and finger manipulation. Senses used on a constant basis are seeing, hearing, and smelling. Exposures may include chemicals, seasonal temperature extremes, infectious diseases, and hazardous waste. This work environment also includes the need to distinguish between colors.
