Scientist, Molecular Biology (Client Dedicated) - Fixed Term Contract

Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is a unique partnership that allows our customers to use the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.

We are currently hiring for a Scientist, Molecular Biology, to join out sponsor dedicated team in Stevenage for a 9 month fixed term contract to cover parental leave.

In this role you will work within the Protein and Cell Sciences department which is engaged in the design, generation and validation of biological reagents to support drug discovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Isolation and purification of plasmid DNA at small to large scale

  • Manipulation of E.coli cultures

  • Analysis of Sanger and NGS DNA sequencing data

  • Supply DNA plasmids across matrix teams

  • Record data in electronic laboratory notebooks

  • Work effectively both individually and as part of a matrix team

Essential Skills:

  • Degree in Life Sciences or equivalent and 1+ years of laboratory experience in a molecular biology laboratory

  • Background in a biological or biochemical sciences discipline

  • General knowledge of molecular biology techniques

  • Ability to prioritise work activities to the required timelines

  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Track record of flexibility and teamwork

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent record keeping skills

Desirable Skills:

  • Academic or industrial experience working in the laboratory

  • Familiarity with modern molecular biology software tools

  • DNA manipulation laboratory skills, such as cloning techniques, PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, DNA isolation.

  • Experience with analysis of DNA sequencing data
