Parker Meggitt has an exciting opportunity for an Electromagnetics Design Specialist to join the team based in our Stevenage, Hertfordshire plant. The facility is a long-established global centre of excellence for airborne radome design and certification and has an excellent high power computing capability, running Ansys HFSS and CST Microwave Studio. As a subject matter expert in electromagnetics, you will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from capability development and opportunity identification, through component development and qualification, leading into full production. You will be accountable for identifying relevant emerging technologies and directing associated research activity; for new product specification development and assessment with customers; for product RF design and analysis; and full-scale RF test of new designs using our e suite of test ranges that can accommodate mechanically scanned, electronically scanned and fixed antenna systems. Close team working is required with mechanical design, quality assurance and production personnel to ensure the requirements of the complete product life cycle are met.

  • EM technology scanning and opportunity development, including research identification and management.

  • Provide technical support to win new business opportunities.

  • Derive system and RF requirements from high-level requirements.

  • Simulate, design and test radomes in conjunction with their associated system antennas.

  • Support to legacy products in response to customer queries.

  • Act as lead engineer when allocated to do so on selected new product designs.

  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external customers as required.

  • Degree (preferably higher degree) in electrical/electronic/antenna engineering or physics.

  • 3 to 5 years post qualification experience RF and antenna product design.

  • Experienced in the design of antennas and/or radome products (esp. aerospace and defence).

  • Breadth of Radio Frequency design experience (typical frequency range 2 to 40 GHz).

  • Practical and demonstrable experience in the use of full wave simulation packages e.g. CST Microwave Studio or Ansys HFSS (preferred).

  • Experienced in MATLAB programming.

  • Possess a ‘hands on’ approach in order to perform qualification and product acceptance testing as required.

  • A team player with good communication skills and an enthusiastic and positive approach.

  • Ability to work under pressure and within agreed timescales.
