United States Fleet Forces Command IT SPECIALIST (APPLICATIONS SOFTWARE) in Stennis Space Center, Mississippi

Summary You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (APPLICATIONS SOFTWARE) in the INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE DEPARTMENT (N6) of COMNAVMETOCCOM. Responsibilities You will provide support and consultation in a wide area of computer applications and provide training and support to the development team. You will interpret requirements in order to design and develop complex application and system software and establish critical performance requirements. You will modify and upgrade complex software to accommodate quick response changes in functional requirements or to address critical failures. You will develop system checklists and oversee personnel responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, training, validation, and documentation of applications and associated systems. You will provide technical guidance to others engaged in like project. You will lead, monitor, and perform acceptance testing of software and systems developed by contractor personnel. You will oversee and perform the design and establishment of software development pipelines in cloud environments. You will analyze and manage operational METOC systems and software used for analytical and predictive environmental intelligence. You will lead the innovation of information technology and cybersecurity solutions to meet advancements in commercial technology. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for a GS-13 your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Experience serving as an Operating System Administrator. - Experience working with programming language, JAVA, C, Python. - Experience troubleshooting/debugging software. - Experience working with a software development team. AND 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: UNDERSTANDING CURRENT AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES TO DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN WEB APPLICATIONS. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: PROVIDING THE RIGHT INFORMATION AT THE RIGHT TIME. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: PROVIDING AUTHORITATIVE ADVICE TO OTHER AGENCY TECHNICAL EXPERTS AND HIGH LEVEL OFFICIALS. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: TAKING ACTION AS NECESSARY TO REPORT AND RESOLVE PRODUCT QUALITY ISSUES. To qualify for a GS-12 your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Experience performing extensive research and assessment of considerable amounts of information to determine and recommend the best approach to meet evolving system requirements. - Experience modifying and upgrading complex software to accommodate quick response changes in functional requirements or to address critical failures - Experience with software troubleshooting/debugging. - Experience working with a software development team. - Experience maintaining accurate documentation for assigned systems AND 1. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: REVIEWING WORK FOR EFFECTIVENESS OF APPROACH, TECHNICAL SOUNDNESS AND COMPLETENESS IN MEETING DEFINED REQUIREMENTS AND APPLICATION OBJECTIVES . 2. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: ANALYZING AND RESOLVING COMPLEX PROBLEMS THROUGH VARIOUS PROGRAMMING TECHNIQUES.
