At Daikin Applied, the Software Engineer III (Controls) will design, modify, develop, and implement software programming applications for HVAC equipment. This includes new product development, and utility or diagnostic software. This role is expected to participate in the testing process through test plan development, test review and analysis, and software certification.

This position interfaces with internal client groups to understand all planned projects and meet project schedule deadlines with a focus on chillers for Data Center applications. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive problem-solving and computer skills. Knowledge of object-oriented software development is required. Experience with C++, HTML and the Linux OS preferred. Experience with PLC's and HVAC a plus.

A Day in the Life:

  • Designs and models software for chiller equipment and systems for commercial, industrial, domestic and internal purposes.
  • Designs and directs engineering personnel in the fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.
  • Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new commercial, domestic, and industrial uses.
  • Directs activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field and internal installations.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

What you will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Computer Engineering),
  • 7+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of principles and practices of engineering, preferably in the HVAC industry.
  • PC skills including Microsoft Office applications and experience with C++, HTML and the Linux OS preferred.

  • Experience with PLC's and HVAC a plus.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills.
