NW Construction, Inc. Site Safety Professional - Onsite in Statewide, Montana

SummaryThe Site Safety professional is responsible for hazard recognition, control, and accident prevention by oversight and implementation of the site-specific safety plan in the field and monitoring day-to-day construction operations. LocationAt NWC, we go where the work is, which exposes your career to exciting opportunities. We relocate our teams based on the work that is available. While our home office is located in Bozeman, MT, this role will report to a project site generally located throughout the Western United States. Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Instill Safety as a top priority by monitoring and maintaining a safe work environment. Corrects unsafe acts on the spot, including the authority to stop work to correct safety and health problems.Identify existing and predictable unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous conditions and ensure safe working practices are in place.Implement and oversee the Project Safety Program including the development of site safety policies and procedures as needed.Conduct training, including new hire orientation and safety meetings.Monitor all heavy construction work for compliance with safety requirements.Monitor and adhere to established budgetary guidelines, and ensure cost control measures are being followedCoordinate all elements contained in the Contractor safety and health program and project specifications, including safety training.May act as the qualified person for designing fall protection, excavation, and scaffolding systems in accordance with the regulatory standards.Review all incident, near-misses, and accident reports.Conduct and prepare weekly safety inspections in conjunction with the onsite government representative listing noted deficiencies, their abatement dates, and follow up action.Attend the Safety Program Review Meeting and Conduct the monthly Joint Safety Policy Meetings.Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.Performs other related duties as assigned. Competencies Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards for the construction industry.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to conduct and document training.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong supervisory and leadership and motivational skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Supervisory ResponsibilitiesFull authorization to correct unsafe acts on the spot, including the authority to stop work to correct safety and health problems.Minimum RequirementsMust be at least eighteen (18) years of age.Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future.Must have a valid, unrestricted Driver’s License.Completion of OSHA 30 training. CHST Certification and/or CSP/ASP/OHST with relevant experience in the heavy civil Construction industry.At least 3 years of occupational health and safety experience in a Heavy Civil Construction environment required.Familiarity with OSHA 1926 construction industry regulations. Experienced with Bureau of Reclamation Safety and Health Standards (RSHS)Experienced with US Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual (EM 385-1-1)Must be willing to travel and relocate. Project sites are located throughout the Western United States, so relocation and/or travel are required.Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field preferred.Current first aid/CPR certification preferred.Experience with MSHA safety requirements preferred.
