Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Siemens Controls Engineer for the Bay Area to maintain world-renowned hospital facilities in Palo Alto. The position involves implementing projects from concept to completion, focusing on the design and implementation of advanced control systems using Siemens PLC/HMI.
Responsibilities
Design and implement advanced control systems using Siemens PLC/HMI.
Develop innovative custom automation solutions for manufacturing processes.
Create and optimize control algorithms for complex systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems.
Contribute to the development of new manufacturing techniques.
Participate in project planning and execution.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and guidelines.
Review electrical schematics and assist with hardware definition/architecture.
Create application design documentation/flow charts and conduct software design reviews.
Program all software for unique projects with a variety of needs (PLC, HMI/SCADA, Servo, Robotics, Machine Vision, etc.).
Test and verify electrical wiring (safety circuits, communications, etc.).
Test run equipment to validate software quality and performance.
Work with mechanical design engineers to ensure all mechanical setups are completed.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Controls, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in the design and build of industrial custom automation and control systems.
Experience in conceptual design and implementation of complex systems.
Expert-level proficiency with Siemens PLC/HMI programming.
Current experience with PLC controls (Siemens) and HMI/SCADA (WinCC).
Experience with controls hardware including sensors, remote IO, servos, VFDs, machine vision, barcode readers, etc.
Knowledge of industrial networking protocols such as Profinet.
Current experience with FANUC 6-axis robotics.
Ability to travel to other company facilities (25-30%).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with HVAC systems.
Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS).
Experience with preventive maintenance.
Knowledge of CMMS, EPA, and electrical systems.

Work Environment
This position is onsite at Stanford School of Medicine, working within the maintenance team, which is part of Stanford Healthcare. The role covers 40 buildings across two campuses, with 75% of buildings being laboratories and medical gas facilities. You will work alongside healthcare engineers for maintenance requests. The shifts are from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm or 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with overtime available on weekends. Uniforms will be provided.

This is a Contract position based out of Stanford, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $68.00/hr.
