The Department of Comparative Medicine at Stanford University is seeking aComputing Support Analyst 1 to beunder direct supervision, provide technical support to end-users for computer hardware, software, and network related problems. Comparative Medicine is a distinct discipline of medicine that uses animal models of human and animal diseases in translational and biomedical research. Our mission is to advance human and animal health through outstanding research, veterinary care, and training. The duties of this role includeinstalling, configuring, and troubleshooting a variety of desktops, workstations, mobile devices, and other equipment. The Computer Support Analyst 1 will escalate matters for resolution as appropriate. Reporting to the IT Manager, this position will work alongside a team to support the departments technological needs.

Duties include:

· Provide first line of response to requests for various hardware, software, peripheral, and networking technical assistance. Provide remote problem resolution when possible

· Resolve basic end-user problems, escalate as appropriate.

· Install, upgrade, configure, and troubleshoot computing and communication devices and peripherals.

· Perform, schedule, and monitor system alerts, work queues, backups, and recovery activities.

· Update daily status reports and shift handover reports if applicable.

· Apply security best practices.

· Gather and record asset inventory and software license information.

· Ensure users are assigned appropriate resources.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree plus one year of relevant experience OR Associate degree plus two years of relevant experience OR

Four years of relevant experience and training.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Experience with various operating systems and computing devices. Experience installing and configuring desktop computer systems in a networked computing environment, and in applying diagnostic techniques for problem troubleshooting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to provide excellent client service.

· Ability to apply diagnostic techniques for problem troubleshooting.

· Ability to apply information technology best practices, including security (this includes information security or physical security, such as asset management) to problem resolution and troubleshooting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

· Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.

· Frequently sitting, use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, bending, lifting, standing, and carrying equipment.

· Occasionally lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 21-40 pounds.

· Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, grasp forcefully.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· May require extended hours and weekends, on-call rotation.

Additional WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Work occurs in secured facilities, in an environment where animals are used for teaching and research.

· May require working with or being in areas where hazardous materials, animal allergens and/or infectious diseases are present.

· Specific hazards include, but are not limited to zoonosis, chemicals, pesticides, and solvent.

  • May be required to hold a California Non-commercial Class C Driver’sLicense to travel to offsite locations.

  • The successful candidate will be required to complete an initial and annual Occupational Health Surveillance questionnaire and may be required to undergo a physical examination and/or immunizations.

The expected pay range for this position is $42.23 to $48.70. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
