Purpose

The North America Payroll Team supports 2,000+ employees and ensures that employee payroll processing is in compliance with federal and state laws. The role supports the NA business by ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, and by performing other payroll related activities.

Additionally, the team acts as administrator for the time and labor system – Time Clock Plus (TCP), ensuring the accurate and timely TLM data required to begin payroll processing. This is a key HR role spanning US. HR Payroll ensures flawless execution of Diageo’s North American payrolls and all related vendor, tax, accounting and compliance items.

Decision Making

  • Analyze payroll issues and recommend corrective actions.

  • Respond to payroll queries from employees in a timely manner.

  • Identify root cause analysis, improve processes, and communicate changes in an effective way.

  • Maintain compliance and continuous improvement is critical in our processes.

Context/Scope:

Market Complexity

  • Accountable within the scope of the remit for Diageo union/non-union employees across the US from a payroll / Time & Labor Management support.

  • Identify and document end to end review of all payroll process, per site location. Stimulate steady process enhancement to present increasing operational efficiency.

  • Ensure all processes are compliant, reduce manual entry points, and alignment with Diageo’s internal controls.

  • Ensure payroll and time configuration meets the needs of the site requirements.

Leadership/Stakeholder Management

  • Responsible for driving the continuous improvement and vendor management agenda including holding the vendors accountable and always seeking ways to improve our payroll processes

  • Leads the relationships with the US HRBP’s and team leaders

  • Identify improvement areas internally as well as perform closely with all internal partners to prepare solutions and identify and implement continuously enhance efficiencies associated with vendor management plus produce fulfillment.

  • Working with Global partners (i.e. Global Mobility, Diageo PLC, Shared Service Teams, etc.) to establish and improve present ways of working- such as but not limited to, Internal Assignees and Equity related transactions

Key Outputs

  • Processing payroll for salaried, union and executive population

  • Audit payroll reports and timesheets for correctness

  • Processes equity transactions, relocation expenses and vendor payments

  • Funding of 401k and other related benefits

  • Handles corrections where needed prior to the close of the payroll

  • Request wire transfers and/or pay cards for deposit return and stop payments

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Minimum 7 to 10 years related work experience in payroll (in a unionized environment a plus)

  • Solid knowledge of US Tax Regulations and W2 reporting

  • Payroll processing experience in a software and a service payroll environment (i.e. ADP Global View)

  • Knowledge of Time Management Systems – such as Time Clock Plus a benefit.

  • Working knowledge of the SAP HR/Payroll Environment

  • Attention to details and adhering to deadlines.

  • Candidate must be a self-starter who possess strong customer focus, command skills, comfortable implementing change, and dealing with ambiguity

  • Ability to understand and react quickly to changing priorities

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a validated ability to collaborate with various partner, build relationships, and influence across large matrix organization

  • Degree or equivalent experience qualified (BS, BA)
