YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg Toddler Teacher Assistant, Lealman YMCA Preschool Academy in St Petersburg, Florida

We are currently hiring for energetic, passionate Full-time Pre-School Toddler Teacher Assistants to assist our teachers with classroom coverage in our brand new Lealman Preschool Academy. Current openings are in infant and toddler classrooms. This is an excellent opportunity to join a mission-driven organization that offers training, development and growth potential.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
  • Assists in the supervision of children, classroom, and all activities.
  • Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
  • Establishes and enforces rules to promote positive behavior.
  • Attends to children's basic needs including supervising meal times, playground times and free play.
  • Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age. Position requires High School diploma or equivalent, CDA or equivalent, completion of MODS (Introductory Child Care Training, Parts 1 and 2) and one or more years previous experience working with children in a developmental setting. Must be able to interact with infants, toddlers and young children for an extended period of time both indoors and outdoors. Pre-employment drug test and background check required.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend and reach with hands and arms. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.

Monday Friday, full-time; $14.75-$20.00/hour.
