The Continuous Improvement (CI) team (local and global) is responsible for building expertise, establishing predictable and consistent processes, focusing on business priorities, and accelerating new technologies through The Catalent Way. The site CI group is charged with the responsibility of developing and imbedding the skills and behaviors that will result in a sustainable continuous improvement culture within the St. Petersburg facility with focus on standardization, simplification, and rapid adoption of best practices. The Continous Improvement Specialist (CI specialist) is responsible for driving continuous improvement (CI) efforts at the site. The Continous Improvement Specialist will be conducting large- or small-scale process improvement and operational transformation projects using LEAN, six sigma, and other advanced problem-solving tools to drive sustainable enhancements in site performance (SQDC).

The Role

  • Identify, scope, and lead process or technology improvement projects following the DMAIC approach including effective application of Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques in a GMP manufacturing environment to address business process problems and design new processes to achieve results. Projects to include but not limited to productivity, margin variances, yield and scrap reductions.

  • Establish and monitor cost savings/avoidance targets for project and maintain all appropriate data within the site project prioritization and tracking system.

  • Lead or support problem-solving sessions to drive rapid resolution of safety, quality, or performance events; develop and/or lead actions that will prevent reoccurrence.

  • Partner with area leaders to drive improvements including equipment operating efficiency including measuring uptime, downtime and changeover/set-up and implementation of visual management tools such as 5S standards and communication boards to drive efficiency.

  • Prepare project plans and maintains an accurate and up to date project schedule and documentation that is readily accessible to management and all team members.

  • Supports multiple projects and successfully transitions for sustaining improvements and communicates project status and highlights critical path activities in a timely manner to site leadership, project sponsors, and project champions.

  • Conduct review of project charters for accuracy and alignment with project goals. Initiate amendments to charters with Sponsor and CI Director if changes are required.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

The Candidate

  • College Education (AA/BS) in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) required OR

  • HS diploma or GED with 1+ years of equivalent experience required.

  • A min of 1 year work experience; pharma or other regulated industry preferred.

  • Strong understanding of Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques.

  • Experience applying Six Sigma & Lean techniques in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Six Sigma certification (e.g. Green Belt) preferred.
