Alumacraft Boat Co Hull Prep Assembler in St. Peter, Minnesota

Hull Prep We are looking for a Hull Prep Associate who will report directly to the Hull Supervisor. As part of your role, you'll be on a team where we are creating new ways to get people moving forward, where their experiences are measured by emotion rather than distance. YOU'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO: Hull Prep: Read and follow engineering drawings, specifications, work orders, SWIs and safety data sheets. Conduct machine set-up which includes: inspections and calibrations. Gather parts and materials according to the fab plan, schedule and shop cards. Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with templates to ensure conformance with specifications. Detect and escalate faulty operation of equipment, defective materials and production misses. Conduct pre-shift inspections of equipment as assigned. Operate overhead hoist, sander and press brake while always following safety requirements and operating procedures. Align and clamp workpieces together using hand tools, or position items in fixtures, jigs, or vises in preparation for securing together with screws or rivets. Position and secure workpieces using overhead hoists, mechanical devices or manual manipulation. Secure material together using rivet guns, pop rivets, drills and screws. Check all parts for burrs, sharp edges, slag and appropriately spaced drill holes; deburr and grind off excess weld, slag or spatter from parts. Mark or tag material with proper identifiers. Clean work area and maintain walkways free of litter and clutter, clean machines, sweep aluminum chips and other debris, keep personal effects stored appropriately. Participate in daily morning meetings including stretching activities, assist with incident investigations, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality improvements. Follow all internal processes and procedures including incident reporting, rework escalation, and stop-call-wait. Assist in training other employees on equipment and department procedures, engage in effective conversations with team members and leaders, escalate and discuss issues or potential issues to leads and supervisors. Aid in other areas as needed. Competencies: Assembly: The assembler must possess the skills and abilities necessary to assemble aluminum parts and deliver quality parts on time. The assembler should have an understanding of the manufacturing schedule, rework process and be able to prioritize jobs. K: Knowledge of reading prints/shop cards, schedules and rework logs. S: Basic computer skills A: Ability to prioritize jobs and communicate necessary information to peers and supervisors. O: The operator should exhibit patience and practicality while working under pressure. Safety: The assembler must have the qualifications necessary to ensure safe operation of equipment at all times. K: basic understanding of general safety operating procedures of hand tools, lifting devices and other machines. S: read operating manuals, written programs, and written instructions. A: follow instructions and effectively execute procedures;inspect and don appropriate PPE. O: courage and willingness to stop and question unsafe work. YOU'LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES: Required: Regular and reliable attendance. Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and reach on a concrete floor. Ability to manually move product and materials through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and bending. Must work at a reasonable pace within quality and production standards to completion of tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Production standards include overtime to meet customer needs. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Knowledge and previous use of basic hand and power tools. 2 years of Manufacturing, production, m chinist, or assembly experience. Demonstrated stability and dependability in previous employment.
