Assistant Professor of Nursing Nursing Description Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing to begin August 15, 2025. Prerequisites Required Qualifications: Doctorate degree in nursing or a related field (PhD, DNP, or EdD) is preferred; but we will consider Master's prepared nurses with either a doctorate in progress (please indicate anticipated completion date if in progress) or who will work toward completion of their doctorate degree during employment. (NOTE: A doctorate degree is required for tenure nomination, usually in the fifth year. Candidates without the earned doctorate will be hired at the rank of Instructor and will be eligible for support through the Gustavus Nursing Faculty Degree Completion Program.) Active registered nurse license (active Minnesota Registered Nurse licensure required at time of appointment) Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching Prior experience as a professional nurse relevant to areas of responsibilities Evidence of a commitment to undergraduate student advising Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience at the undergraduate level Demonstrated commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and identities Experience with nursing program assessment, evaluation, and accreditation activities Things you will do: Gustavus faculty teach, advise, conduct research, and serve the college and department. Teach a 6-course equivalent each academic year. In their first year, the successful candidate will receive a reduced teaching assignment of five courses, plus one fully-compensated course release. Primary teaching responsibilities will include Public Health and Medical Surgical Nursing courses. In addition, this position will contribute to other nursing curriculum courses and potential future contributions to general education. The successful candidate will join college and departmental efforts to develop equitable pedagogies and inclusive cultures. This includes, but is not limited to, advising nursing majors and contributing to nursing department assessment, evaluation, and accreditation activities. Develop professional skills by participating in faculty meetings and committees, attending faculty development days, and taking advantage of the College's membership to the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD).
