Fairview Health Services Quality Specialist - Emergency Medical Services in St Paul, Minnesota

Overview

Here at M Health Fairview, we are now seeking an EMS Quality Specialist to join our team! As a Quality Specialist, you will be responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program for EMS/ Medical Transportation. Through data collection and analysis, PCR review, industry research and committee feedback, develops quality initiatives and activities for Medical Transportation.

Responsibilities Job Description

Job Expectations:

  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant Medical Transportation laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Leads continuous monitoring of regulatory, statutory, and clinical requirements.

  • Actively participates in creating and implementing Quality Improvement initiatives that include Clinical, Professional, Safety, Customer Service, and Employee Experience.

  • Maintains operations database, scorecard, and Clinical Metrics Database set by the OMD of Medical Transportation.

  • Manages safety and Quality incident tracking through approved reporting applications. Reviews incidents and ambulance runs through quality protocols.

  • Supports the equipment committee in evaluating new equipment to make recommendations on continued use of equipment and supplies.

  • Manages and maintains the approved driver safety, feedback and tracking applications and produces Service Excellence initiatives related to quality.

  • Manages and coordinates the Peer Review Program and activities.

  • Assists in coordinating, maintaining, and overseeing the Clinical Guidelines and Peer Review committee with the Office of the Medical Director. Leads the Medical Transportation Safety and Quality committee. Publishes updates at least quarterly in the Medical Transportation Newsletter.

  • Coordinates with applicable EMS Supervisor, clinical remediation of personnel under review by the Medical Director.

  • Reviews Field Training Experience (FTEP) reports of the new field employees to ensure compliance with the Clinical Guidelines and provides feedback. Coordinates Operations with Field Transportation Officer Leaders.

  • Works closely with hospitals and other local and state EMS bodies to obtain patient outcomes for CQI, education, and training.

  • Works closely with system Quality and Safety Pacesetters.

  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.

Qualifications

Required

Education

  • Associate's degree in business/health related field or equivalent industry specific experience.

Experience

  • 3 years of healthcare experience working with Quality Improvement initiatives, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)/ Quality Assurance (QA) analysis and reporting required.

  • 3 years of EMS background strongly preferred.

License/Certification/Regstration

  • Minnesota Certified Paramedic (EMT-Paramedic)

  • Nationally Registered Emergency Med Tech Paramedic (NREMT-P)

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
