The Lead Worker of the Mail Operations team in the Tax Operations Division supports the Mail Operations team supervisor, directing daily mail printing and processing for the department. This position also directs staff and assists with form distribution, loading dock operations, and internal mail handling services. The lead worker will be responsible for understanding the unit processes and functioning of equipment and will provide training and accurate written procedures to employees to ensure department mailings are processed timely and accurately to meet unit, division, and agency deadlines. The lead worker will also assist in compiling reports and recommendations for updates or changes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of lead work principles sufficient for planning and directing the work of a team, providing training, monitoring and reviewing the work of subordinates

• Working knowledge of personal computers including software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite

• Communication skills sufficient to understand, respond to, and communicate with customers

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in order to meet strict deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to maintain records and to prepare routine reports from such records.

• Strong customer service and organizational skills, including negotiating and problem solving using positive and constructive feedback.

• Experience as a lead worker or other leadership role in a high-volume production environment.

• Experience with high-volume printing and folding/inserting of mail.

• Technical aptitude and the ability to identify problems, recommend solutions, and provide technical direction to other employees in the division.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for long periods of time on a daily basis.

Ability to bend, reach, and lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a daily basis.
