Robert Half Linux Systems Engineer in St. Paul, Minnesota

Description

We are in search of a Linux Systems Engineer to join our team. The role involves providing operational support, maintenance, and advanced administration to our enterprise server computing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide advanced administration and implementation of the enterprise server computing environment.

• Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve server and storage environments, as well as data center applications & operations.

• Maintain server configurations and back-up processes, ensuring accurate documentation for future reference.

• Quickly respond to production issues, taking responsibility for resolution and ensuring proper incident management is followed.

• Clearly articulate requirements, issues, status, and other relevant information to non-technical management personnel.

• Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support.

• Engage frequently with 3rd party support vendors to ensure timely maintenance renewals.

• Continually grow your level of knowledge in your area of expertise through certifications, seminars, or other related activities.

• Perform data center operational tasks as necessary, such as rack setup, layout, leveling, and power strip setup.

• Utilize your skills in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware, Enterprise Storage, Data Center Environment, Backup administration, and Backup Technologies to perform your duties effectively.

Requirements • Proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux is mandatory

• Experience with VMware is required

• Knowledge of Enterprise Storage is essential

• Familiarity with Data Center Environment is necessary

• Experience with Backup Administration is preferred

• Proficiency in Backup Technologies is desirable

• Good communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system issues

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is preferred. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
