EHRNRITER ILS SERVICES Direct Support Professional (DSP) in St. Paul, Minnesota

The role of a Direct Support Professional (DSP) is designed to help individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, traumatic brain injuries, or chronic illnesses to increase independence. Direct Support Professionals work one on one with a client in their own homes and in the community to build skills that empower them and help them to engage and integrate with their community. Your role will look unique to each client as you come alongside them to take part in tasks such as running essential errands, attending appointments, managing schedules, personal organization, household management, financial management, meal planning, exploring and participating in hobbies, and more. As a direct support professional, the rapport that you build with your clients will assist them in building the skills and confidence needed to live independently in their community and achieve their goals. Responsibilities Meet with clients regularly as scheduled in their homes, providing remote supports as desired Support clients through creative, thoughtful, problem-solving Understand and work to follow through support plan goals Assist individuals in planning and structuring time together Timely completion of documentation of activities and progress as directed by supervisor Clear and professional communication with clients, supervisor, and members of the support team Transporting clients as needed throughout the community for appointments and activities
