This position serves our partners at Minnesota’s largest state agency, the Department of Human Services (DHS) . The MNIT DHS team supports complex and varied technical needs, including systems that provide health care coverage, deliver child protection and welfare services, and provide support for Minnesotans with special needs including mental illness, chemical dependencies, and physical or developmental disabilities.
As a Data Warehouse Server Administrator with MNIT and DHS, you’ll leverage your advanced professional knowledge and skills to maintain and optimize the hardware supporting our Data Warehouse. This work includes testing, upgrades and creation of macros to support our Teradata and Linux hardware.
You’ll provide essential technical assistance, fostering optimum server performance and security. Additionally, you’ll ensure a seamless transition of ongoing maintenance and technical expertise to business staff by providing optimized hardware and software solutions, encouraging greater independence and proficiency in utilizing the DHS Data Warehouse.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.
Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience Implementing database, data warehouse, and/or business intelligence (BI) solutions in an enterprise environment.
Experience must include:
Experience in Linux system administration (Ubuntu, Redhat).
Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SSH, VPN).
SQL experience in Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML)
Optimizing data schema and architecture for best performance
Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) is a plus.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR a related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR a related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years or more experience with Linux server management
Two years or more experience with Teradata
Two years or more experience using SQL (Structured Query Language)
A high degree of creative analytic and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of health care claims and/or public assistance program eligibility data content and structures
Experience with modernizing Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes – Application Programming Interface (API) and Microsoft Sql Server Integration Services (SSIS)
Good communication skills, with ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical staff
