This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul. This position will have the flexibility to telecommute, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to complete a telework agreement. The incumbent may be expected to work in the office on occasion.

This position is responsible for managing an integrated communications and public engagement staff responsible for the development and operation of the agency’s strategic communications and engagement, workforce communications and social media programs. The incumbent reports to the Director of Communications and Engagement and helps ensure that the agency’s programs align with the Governor’s and agency’s goals, vision, missions and values. This position serves as the assistant office director.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of managerial experience in the bullets noted below; OR, three years of professional supervisory (supervising professional employees) experience in the bullets noted below; OR, four years of advanced professional experience in the bullets noted below:

· Communications experience which includes consulting on media relations, strategic communications planning, creative services (web/graphics), writing and editing for a wide variety of media.

· Experience consulting on rules and laws with ADA accessibility, plain language, digital accessibility, data practices, equitable engagement and social media.

· Experience in crisis communications and issues management.

· Ability to oversee operational and staffing budgets.

· Ability to review, consult and revise policies.

Preferred Qualifications

· Degree or master’s in journalism, marketing, public administration, or communications.

· Communications experience within a governmental setting.
