Job Summary This position is a member of the Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity (ODEO) at DEED. The ODEO team contributes to DEED's culture work and ensures operational excellence by enforcing Equal Opportunity (EO) and advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) for DEED employees and customers. The main focus of this position will be to support DEED staff and applicants by providing reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and coordinating the agency's Connect 700 program. Additionally, the position ensures agency staff, programs, and local workforce areas comply with state and federal EO requirements by meeting programmatic, physical, digital and language access requirements. Lastly, this position will have an important role in DEED's complaint process, triaging complaints, providing early conflict resolution services, and investigating Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) harassment and discrimination complaints made by customers. The disability inclusion services and equal opportunity enforcement responsibilities held by this role will make a meaningful difference in the lives of DEED employees and customers across the state. The conflict resolution work performed by this role will be grounded by a multi-cultural, equity lends, rooted in DEED's values of equity and inclusion. This position will have the opportunity to influence ODEO's DEIA learning and development work for staff and stakehold rs; and provide consultation to ODEO partners to nurture an inclusive culture that celebrates diversity and provides culturally responsive services to Minnesotans. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications To receive credit for your education and experience, your resume should clearly describe how you meet each minimum and/or preferred qualification listed, including dates of employment. Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Human Resources, Human Rights, Law or related field AND one (1) year of professional experience in areas of equal opportunity, affirmative action, or human / civil rights, including processional experience coordinating reasonable accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). OR Two (2) years of professional experience in the areas of equal opportunity, affirmative action, or human / civil rights, including professional experience coordinating reasonable accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following; Communication and human relation skills to develop and maintain relationships with diverse individuals and groups. In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local equal opportunity laws and policies. Knowledge of best practices in the field of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Experience developing and delivering training. Incumbent must maintain valid driver's license, & insurance, OR have other reliable transportation. Preferred Qualifications Experience conducting investigations of discrimination or harassment and writing investigative reports. Experience in Equal Opportunity compliance and/or monitoring. Training or certifications in conflict resolution, de-escalation, mediation, trauma-informed facilitation, and/or restorative justice. Skill in digital accessibility requirements. DEIA coursework or training in microaggressions, unconscious bias, intercultural communications, the IDI, etc. Master's degree in a related field.
