HDR's St. Louis Park, MN Office is seeking a Transportation Planning Project Manager to deliver a variety of transportation planning projects for clients in Minnesota and Wisconsin. This is a great opportunity to be part of HDR's established but growing MN/WI planning team and lead a variety of transformative projects. Example project types include complete streets conceptual design, active transportation plans, corridor studies, safety planning, transit studies, transportation analysis to support environmental documentation, stakeholder facilitation, statewide and regional plans and studies, and managing local and federal grant applications. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated interest or passion for developing new client relationships and mentoring early-career planners. Specific projects will be initially assigned that best align with the candidate's skillset, experience, and areas of interest. It is not expected that the candidate would possess all of the subject expertise areas of project types listed above. The candidate will have the opportunity to shape their career path in transportation planning through ongoing project work, successful booking of new projects, and in collaboration with HDR's internal work sharing network of planners nationally. In the role of Transportation Planning Project Manager, we'll count on you to: Plan and manage all aspects of transportation planning projects when in a Project Manager role on a project or study. Lead the development of scope, schedule and budget for planning tasks and standalone projects. Track financial aspects of your assigned projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule.- Interface with client and/or client-facing teams to coordinate delivery of a successful project. Direct work of others in completion of transportation planning studies, documents and reports, including coordination with subject matter experts in related disciplines such as environmental, traffic, roadway, water resources, economics, data management, GIS, and public engagement. Manage your individual workload, balancing project management roles with task lead or planner roles depending upon the project, in addition to marketing and administrative time. Support business development, proposals, and other marketing activities to bring in transportation planning work and build client relationships. Regularly lead the development of proposals in collaboration with marketing team and other team members. Demonstrate extensive experience conducting public participation, agency coordination, transportation planning and programming. This position has the opportunity to supervise junior planning staff as a part of the MN/WI Planning Section and to support ongoing team development and mentorship of early-career planners. Preferred Qualifications AICP Certified Masters' degree in urban and regional planning or related field Complete streets/active transportation experience Grant writing experience Transit capital planning experience Equity analysis experience Previous consulting experience Established relationships with potential clients and teaming partners Experience working with transportation agencies, incl ding DOTs, MPOs, cities, and counties Understanding of NEPA in transportation *LI-BC1 Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering or a related field A minimum of 10 years' experience with transportation planning Possess excellent analytical and communication skills Understanding of transit planning principles Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and personnel Solid business development skills; demonstrated ability to relate well to clients; and demonstrated presentation skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe HDR is our company.
