Actalent Process Controls Engineer in St. Louis, Missouri

Job Title: Process Controls EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a Process Controls/Electrical Engineer to support an exciting project located in Wilsonville, AL. This individual will be responsible for supporting the end client in training and protocols, as well as monitoring the systems manufactured in St. Louis, MO for testing at the National Carbon Capture Center in Wilsonville, AL. The role requires experience with schematics, PLC programming within a process-driven environment (Chemical, Gas, Fluid), mechanical knowledge, and troubleshooting. This individual will be the boots on the ground in Wilsonville.

Responsibilities

  • Support end client in training and protocols.

  • Monitor systems manufactured in St. Louis, MO for testing at the National Carbon Capture Center in Wilsonville, AL.

  • Design and troubleshoot control panels and I/O schematics.

  • Perform electrical and instrumentation hardware integration and design.

  • Conduct P&ID loop tuning.

  • PLC and HMI programming for motors, instrumentation, and control valves in industrial systems.

  • Collaborate with clients, including many Fortune 500 companies.

  • Project communications including meeting documentation for clients, vendors, and managers; trip and project time reporting.

  • Factory Acceptance Testing and commissioning at client site.

  • Manage industrial client and supplier relationships.

  • Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and validation.

  • Execute other engineering, project, and technical tasks as required.

Essential Skills

  • 7+ years of experience in design and/or manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in software programming - PLC, HMI for motors, instrumentation, and control valves in industrial systems.

  • BS Electrical Engineering degree or relevant functional experience.

  • Ability to design and troubleshoot control panels and I/O schematics.

  • Knowledge of control valve, PLC programming, HMI programming, Allen-Bradley, control design, and schematic design.

  • P&ID loop tuning experience.

  • Electrical and instrumentation hardware integration and design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Wonderware, FactoryTalk, PlantPAX software preferred.

  • Hands-on electrical, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and in a team environment on fast-track projects.

  • Strong work ethic, ability to learn hands-on, attention to detail.

  • Detailed design engineering.

  • Process knowledge of P&ID’s and basic process equipment strongly preferred.

  • Process and electrical troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to conceptualize and define design basis of programming projects, working in conjunction with customer.

  • Continuous and/or batch control processing preferred.

  • Instrumentation and control valve specification and selection.

Work Environment

The position is based in Wilsonville, AL and is a full-time, 6-month contract. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with weekends as necessary. The role provides an opportunity to work at the National Carbon Capture Center, collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds to advance the development, commercialization, and deployment of technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00
