SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:
The Fitter Welder is responsible for performing quality welds while meeting all quality and safety standards. Under ongoing supervision, welds, cleans cuts and grinds. The welder will work collaboratively with other members of the department and production counterparts to ensure production workflow.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Experienced Welder with possible skills in Subarc (SAW), with experience inShielded Metal Arc Welding (SWAW) andFlux Core (FCAW) preferred.
- Fitting experience preferred.
- Must be able to kneel, squat, crawl, or stand for extended periods of time inside a pipe.
- Able to work at heights.
- Skilled in fitting-up steel pieces for welding fixtures and jigs. Ensures proper alignment and dimensional specifications of every fit.
- Weld or tack parts into various sub-assemblies or complete assemblies.
- Experience using an Overhead Crane to move product from one location to another.
- Knowledgeable of welding technology, equipment types, applications, and material characteristics.
- Must be able to read a tape measure and properly apply to pipe sizes.
- Must be able to use hand grinders and other misc. hand tools.
- Team Player with Leadership skills and abilities.
