BayCare Health System is currently in search of our newest NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) Speech Therapist who is passionate about providing outstanding customer service to our community in Tampa. St. Joseph's Children's Hospital treats more children than any other hospital in Tampa Bay so parents can rest assured their child will receive the best expert care close to home. With 80 pediatric physician specialists representing 25 medical and surgical disciplines, the team ensures the highest quality pediatric care for children, even those with the most complex or chronic conditions.

This is a fulltime, experienced, inpatient NICU Speech Therapy position with a heavy feeding caseload, infant through teens. Modified Barium Swallow Study experience required. Bilingual a plus

  • Conducting thorough assessments to evaluate the speech, language, feeding, and oral motor skills of premature infants and critically ill newborns in the NICU.

  • Developing individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, medical history, and developmental milestones to address communication disorders, feeding difficulties, and oral motor challenges.

  • Providing direct therapeutic interventions such as oral motor exercises, feeding therapy, and speech stimulation techniques to improve infants' abilities to swallow, suck, breathe, and communicate effectively.

  • Working closely with neonatologists, pediatricians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care plans and address the unique needs of NICU patients.

  • Educating and training parents/caregivers on strategies to support their infants' feeding and communication development both in the NICU and after discharge.

  • Maintaining accurate and detailed documentation of assessments, treatment sessions, progress notes, and communication with healthcare team members in accordance with regulatory standards.

Required Certifications and Licensures:

  • CCC-SLP (Speech Language Pathology)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

  • Speech Therapy License

Education:

  • Required Master's Speech Therapy

  • Preferred Doctorate Speech Therapy

Experience:

  • 1 year Clinical Related is preferred

  • Preferred 3-5 years pediatric/NICU inpatient/acute care

  • Preferred: MBS experience

Specific Skills:

  • Communication skills including strong customer service and written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision

  • Collaborate and work with a team

  • Organizational skills

  • Computer skills appropriate to position
