Printing & Binding Manager

Duties:
- Manages the daily operation of a full-service production department.
- Serves as the digital creator/editor for incoming digital and print projects to include the development of a concept, layout, and revision of County forms, as well as the delivery and completion of the product.
- Utilizes Microsoft Office software, desktop publishing tools, and Adobe Creative Suite applications to create and edit digital content.
- Researches and tests all new publishing software required by the department.
- Collaborates with all County departments and outside clients to manage and utilize PDF editing software for design, editing, and printing tasks.
- Prioritizes and assigns work to staff based on knowledge of departmental deadlines, workload volume, staff and equipment capabilities.
- Maintains time records for departmental staff.
- Serves as a liaison between County departments and outside agencies; provides information regarding departmental policies, procedures and capabilities.
- Assists in determining departmental goals, objectives and policies and procedures.
- Manages the yearly budget and inventory for the department.
- Orders, disburses and receives department supplies including preparing requisitions; manages inventory of all printing equipment and consumables; maintains communications with supply and service vendors.
- Maintains material safety data sheets on chemicals used according to established State and Federal regulations.
- Assists with all printing activities as needed during vacancies and emergencies.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in graphic design, art or related field; OR
- Associate Degree in graphic design, art or related field and two years of experience in desktop publishing or forms design, which includes one year of supervisory experience; OR
- High school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in desktop publishing or forms design which includes two years of supervisory experience.
Special Requirements:
- Experienced with the use of computers, Microsoft Office software, desktop publishing tools and Adobe Creative Suite applications.
- Must possess and maintain a valid vehicle operator's license throughout the course of employment.
- Will be required to pass a security check with the Law Enforcement Information Network.
- An employee assigned to this class routinely works with machinery and equipment which requires regularly lifting up to 60 pounds, sitting, stooping, or standing for prolonged periods of time.
