Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Records Technician to join our clients Health Information Management (HIM) department. The ideal candidate will prepare medical records for scanning efficiency in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and productivity standards. This role involves retrieving and filing old paper records essential for patient care, assisting with release of information services, and interviewing mothers to gather birth certificate information for entry into our electronic birth certificate system. Additionally, the technician will review and release transcriptions to PowerChart. This position is onsite in St. Helena, CA

Schedule:

Tuesday to Saturday, after training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve and prepare medical records for efficient scanning.

  • Conduct interviews with mothers to collect birth certificate information and accurately enter data into the electronic birth certificate system.

  • Review and manage transcription queues, releasing completed transcriptions to PowerChart.

  • Perform chart pickups and ensure the accurate scanning of medical records.

  • Answer phone inquiries and provide assistance as needed.

  • Track and compile data related to medical records and HIM processes.

  • Collaborate with other hospital departments and communicate effectively with physicians.

  • Uphold strong work ethic; reliability and trustworthiness are essential.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Strong medical record management skills and knowledge of HIM practices.

  • Familiarity with Cerner EHR and scanning processes.

  • Experience with the Release of Information process and physician completion.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
