Intergalactic Senior Manufacturing Engineer in St. George, Utah

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will help build and operate a world-class manufacturing function at Intergalactic. This function is crucial to building Intergalactic's enabling technologies and products reliably, repeatably, of the highest quality, and at scale, ultimately delivering into the field. This individual will lead, develop, create, and manage all aspects of the manufacturing world at Intergalactic to help achieve all strategic, contractual, and tactical milestones from the time that a new production program is awarded to the final delivery of contracted intellectual and physical product to the customer. This role will support in driving operations through impeccable documentation for successful completion of high-quality hardware, also bear responsibility for the process's creation supporting the organization's strategic direction, as well as creating and managing long term goals.

Expected Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Maintain effective communication on all aspects of the program among the project team to ensure all goals, tasks, and deliverables are understood clearly throughout the entire program.

  • Oversees day to day floor activities, a strong leader in operations.

  • Lead efforts in design for manufacturing, lean manufacturing practices.

  • Support key decisions by working cross-functionally across departments to achieve program objectives.

  • Lead the manufacturing activities through creative and clear processes that result in high quality hardware assembly, integration, and test.

  • Designs tools and machines used to manufacture products.

  • Reviews production program equipment, hardware, and tooling; makes recommendations for repairs or replacement.

  • Oversees the development of new processes, methods, and production controls.

  • Installs new equipment and ensures that it operates correctly; trains others to operate new machinery, test equipment.

  • Prepares operations manuals for new or existing hardware assembly integration and test.

  • Maintains knowledge of new and developing manufacturing technology, equipment, and applications; applies this knowledge to recommend and implement new technology and processes.

  • Design, implement, and review the procedures involved in the manufacturing process.

  • Create manufacturing work instructions/build books using engineering provided drawings and specifications to communicate to the manufacturing technicians and quality engineering.

  • Create Standard Operating Procedures, process documentation and process through document control and maintain proper configuration management.

  • Lean manufacturing data analysis, analysis methodology improvement projects, trade studies, and design for manufacturer studies.

  • Design and development of future hardware, tooling, and assembly fixtures.

  • Lead process documentation efforts of components, assemblies, and integration.

  • Create or modify tool designs.

  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective action for non-conformances.

  • Maintain production work instructions.

  • Supplier management.

  • Component or integrated systems test.

  • Participate in team-building activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership abilities

  • Manufacturing engineering experience in an aerospace production environment

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tools, and techniques, particularly in aerospace and defense system manufacturing

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and manufacturing process simulation tools.

  • Familiarity with CAD models and drawings as well as Geometric Design and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Familiarity with quality control methodologies and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, statistical process control).

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex manufacturing issues and propose effective solutions.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards in the aerospace and defense industry

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    Expected Hours of Work

    Salaried crew members are generally expected to work a baseline of 40 hours per week, although a priority is placed on achieving results rather than tracking time

    Supervisory Responsibility

    The Senior Manufacturing Engineer has limited indirect supervisory responsibility for the production team with regard to program objectives.

    Physical Requirements

    This role requires sitting, walking, or standing for several hours at a time. This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, open cabinets, bend, or stand on a stool as needed.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in an indoor office environment and routinely interacts with other crew members and customers. This role routinely uses both paper and electronic record keeping systems and communication equipment.

    Travel Requirements

    Occasional overnight travel is expected for this position.

    Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field

  • 5 years of experience working professionally in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, production engineering, or an equivalent technical role.

  • 2 years of experience in the aerospace industry

    Additional Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Solid Works, AutoCAD or Solid Edge Experience preferred.

Work Authorization

Eligibility to work in the United States is required, as is compliance with U.S. export control regulations.
