Responsibilities
Able to perform all duties of a registered nurse
Assumes a leadership role in the provision of quality nursing care for patients receiving services within the nursing department
Supervises, coordinates and delegates nursing activities in the facility
Communicates directly with the health care team to provide quality patient care
Maintains an efficient and safe schedule for patient care, meeting patient needs and budgeting requirements
Coordinates with surgeons/physicians a general plan of care for patients, utilizing problem solving and decision making
Collaborates with materials management and staff to ensure proper equipment and supplies are available for cases
Assists in the hiring, orientation, training, evaluation and discipline of nursing/clinical personnel in collaboration with Human Resources/CEO/Clinical Director
Able to directly supervise and delegate job responsibilities to maintain a positive and effective work environment
Provides written and verbal evaluations once a year to team members and meets with each teammate frequently as need arises
Continually assesses the quality of care given to patients including physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs
Enforces policies and procedures which are concurrent with current standards of practice and recognizes need for change
Meets and participates in meetings as established by Team, Clinical Director and CEO
Participates in new equipment and materials education programs and in-services
Establishes, monitors and evaluates a safe, therapeutic environment for all patients and health care providers
Works with CEO and Materials Management to develop and implement a yearly budget plan
Meets and communicates with staff regularly
Actively assists QI in discovering, development and implementation of nursing activities, using the root cause analysis
Reports any patient injury/grievance to Medical Director, QI/RM and the appropriate team member and assists QI/RM in the resolution of grievance
Assists preceptor in establishing an orientation program for new personnel
Reports needed repair of instruments/equipment to appropriate personnel
Works with RL Solutions, OneNet, HST/Pathways and HST echart
Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
Three to five years of OR and/or medical surgical nursing experience and managerial/leadership nurse experience preferred
Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 6 months of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification
Successful completion of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of employment or documentation of current ACLS/PALS certification
