Job Title:                        Elementary Teacher

Reports To:              Executive Director / Assistant Principal     

Hiring Status:           At-Will

FLSA Status:              Exempt

FTE :                         1.0

Schedule:                 Monday – Friday 6:45 am – 3:15 pm 

Reporting Days:        176, 10 months 

Compensation:         Salary 

Starting Pay:            $44,290-$72,718; DOE.

Start Date:               August 19, 2024

Minimum Qualifications Required:

     Education:                 Bachelor's degree or enrollment in a teaching program

     Experience:              Classroom experience preferred

     Certification:             Valid local state teaching certificate in assigned content area or                                                              willingness to obtain certification

     Background:            Clear FBI background check

     Language:                Strong verbal and writing skills in English

Job Duties

Classroom Instruction

  • Instruct students in grades Kindergarten – 6th grade in a self-contained classroom environment teaching all general education subjects.

  • Creates a classroom environment that cultivates learning, engages the interests of the students, and allows them to perform at their very best.  

  • Utilizes academically rigorous lessons, unit plans, rubrics and assessments aligned to Athlos’ 3 foundational pillars of a Prepared Mind (https://www.athlosjp.org/academics/prepared-mind-pillar/) ,   Healthy Body (https://www.athlosjp.org/academics/healthy-body-pillar/) , and   Performance Character (https://www.athlosjp.org/academics/performance-character-pillar/) .  

  • Plans, prepares, and delivers instruction that engages students and ensures student growth and achievement in accordance with grade level standards.  

  • Uses data to inform instructional decisions including summative and interim assessments and daily formative assessments.

  • Differentiates instruction based on individual needs, learning style, and abilities.

  • Communicates a deep belief that all students can learn, and belong, in the c lassroom.  

  • Consistently implements school-wide management policies .  

  • Creates a positive learning environment by developing classroom rules, systems, and procedures .

  • Holds high expectations for student behavior at all times .

    Communication

  • Communicates professionally with parent/guardians and the community.  

  • Communicates student progress with parent/guardians regularly.

  • Communicates regularly with school leadership and other faculty to maximize effective instructional activities.  

    Professionalism

  • Models the Athlos culture.  

  • Implements school policies.

  • Tracks student attendance, behavioral issues, and classroom events.  

  • Participates in regular school-wide and individual professional development including professional learning communities.  

  • Pursues ambitious professional development goals and student learning targets.

  • Actively participates in critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses, parent teacher conferences and more .  

  • Gives and receives positive and constructive feedback from colleagues.  

  • H onors schedules and deadlines.  

    Other duties as assigned.  

    Knowledge and Skills

    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Classroom and video platforms such as: Zoom or Teams. 

  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage the entire classroom.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Experience working in diverse communities and a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives.

  • Demonstrated integrity and high standards in managing information in a confidential and professional manner.

  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment.
