Nike Director, Product Development Engineering, Automation & Controls in St. Charles, Missouri

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Director, Product Development Engineering, Automation & Controls, role will lead an engineering team responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining automation solutions in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. You will work closely with our cross-functional partners in safety, manufacturing operations, supply chain, technology and engineering to define and deliver our strategic priorities.

We seek a Director who has a demonstrated track record of team leadership, business results, balanced business and technical acumen, and cross-functional leadership across the enterprise to bring automation & controls capabilities to life. You will need to simultaneously understand the big picture opportunities and have a strong command of the details of complex and sophisticated scope and landscape.

  • Proven experience in developing high-performing teams, building positive relationships with cross-functional partners, and ability to influence data-driven decisions and change across the enterprise.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance innovation and manufacturing needs, ensuring that automation solutions are seamlessly integrated into production processes at scale while maintaining safety & quality standards, cost-efficiency and delivery timelines.

  • Strong bias for action, progress over perfection mentality and fosters a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Effective in communicating complex, technical information with clarity to stakeholders, articulating the value proposition of each solution.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, or training

  • A minimum of 10 years progressive experience in automation & controls in a manufacturing ecosystem.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

Our Director will focus on leading through the development & execution of strategic, foundational and cutting-edge automation solutions that accelerate the future of Nike Air through operations data and insights to enable manufacturing innovation. This will be based on a solid understanding of business and operations needs to enable value delivery at scale with speed.

  • Lead, inspire and motivate a team of Automation & Controls Engineers in our St Louis-area site to achieve Air MI’s enterprise strategic priorities.

  • Lead the definition of the business direction and outcome by developing automation capabilities strategy, business case, KPIs and roadmap of the next generation automation capabilities for the site.

  • Work closely with business, engineering and technology leaders and stakeholders to drive strategic alignment.

  • Drive effective and efficient integrated planning and delivery of people, process, data and tools capabilities to unlock value for the business.

  • Assess and manage internal and competitive automation capabilities.
